E is for The Eiffel Tower
The greatest symbol of Paris and one of the world’s most visited tourist attractions is the Eiffel Tower. Built in 1889 for the World Fair by Gustave Eiffel who was born in Dijon, Burgundy on the 15 December 1832.
The construction was completed after 2 years, 2 months and 5 days. Reaching a height of 324 meters, built of iron and more than 7,000 tonnes in weight, the tower remains one of tallest buildings in the capital.
Once you reach the base of the tower, it is possible to visit the three levels, there is a lift/escalator to take you to each level (but the higher you go the more it costs. If you are more adventurous and would like to avoid the queues, then walk up the metal stair case to level one and or two.
Finding the tower is so easy as you can see it for miles, there is also the Metro with stations at Bir-Hakeim line 6 (10 minute walk), and Trocadero line 9 (15 minute walk).

As you will notice, there are no photos of the tower at night, this is because the lighting has copyright and we do not have the permission to publish night photos of the tower.
